Login won't work in Safari Private mode

Private mode blocks session cookies. Use a regular tab.

On this page

On an iPhone, if the login link keeps dumping you back on the "Enter your email" screen no matter how many times you tap it, the cause is almost always Safari Private Browsing. Switch to a normal tab and the login sticks.

Here's what's happening. Private mode wipes the cookie that keeps you signed in the second Safari closes the tab or moves on. So the link works, the site signs you in for a fraction of a second, then the session vanishes and you land back at the email screen. Request another link, tap it, same loop.

Fix it in a normal tab

  1. Open Safari.
  2. Tap the tabs button in the bottom-right corner (the two overlapping squares).
  3. At the very bottom, tap the tab-group label. In Private mode it reads Private with a purple-ish tint.
  4. Tap Start Page (or any non-private group). The browser bar background turns from dark to light, which tells you Private mode is off.
  5. Go to guide.babyacrobatics.com.
  6. Tap Sign In With Email Link, enter your email, and leave that tab open.
  7. Open your inbox, find the email from Baby Acrobatics, and tap Access your guide.

That tab you left open does the rest. It shows "Waiting for confirmation...", then "Logging you in..." once you tap the link, and drops you straight into your guide. You do not have to come back to it and tap anything.

If you'd rather not leave Private mode

Open the login email in Chrome or Firefox instead. Long-press the Access your guide button, tap Copy, paste it into Chrome's address bar, and go. Chrome keeps the cookie even when Safari won't, so you'll be signed in there.

The link is good for 30 minutes, so do this part without wandering off. If it's already expired, just send a fresh one.

Once you're in

After you've signed in through a normal tab, you can flip Safari back to Private mode for everyday browsing. Your session lasts about 30 days, so you won't have to log in again for a while. The login itself just can't happen inside Private mode, because the cookie it needs gets thrown away too fast.

When this isn't your problem

If you're on Android and the Gmail app keeps bouncing you back to the email screen, that's a different cause with a different fix. See the magic link loops on Android Gmail.

If you're already in a normal tab and still hitting an error page, see what your login error means.

If the email itself never shows up, see the login link isn't arriving.
