At Baby Acrobatics, safety isn't an afterthought — it's the foundation of everything we build. The activities in our program involve physical movement, and like any physical activity, they carry inherent risks. That's why we take safety so seriously.
Baby Acrobatics is independently reviewed & supported by licensed pediatric occupational therapists. See the expert review details here.
Every exercise in our program comes with its own safety tips, and many include specific safety notes for that exact movement. We encourage all parents to read those callouts closely and take them to heart each time they revisit a routine.
By using Baby Acrobatics, you are confirming that you have read, understood, and agree to make the safety principles, warnings, and disclaimers below your top priority. These guidelines align with our full Terms & Conditions.
The Golden Rules of Safe and Joyful Movement
These aren't just rules; they are the foundation for building trust with your baby.
Your Instinct is Final.
Let's start here, because it matters most. You are the world's foremost expert on your child. You know your baby best, and your judgment matters more than anything in this process. If an activity feels wrong, unsafe, or causes distress, stop immediately. Do not proceed. Your parental intuition will always be your best guide.
The Environment is Everything.
Your baby needs a safe “yes” space to explore movement. Only perform these activities in a clear, distraction-free area on a soft but stable surface, like a carpet or a firm mat. Before you start, take a moment to remove any hard objects, sharp corners, or other hazards.
Your Baby Leads the Way.
The goal here is joyful connection, not perfect performance. Never force your baby into a position they aren't ready for. These movements are about gentle guidance and celebrating their current abilities. Pay close attention to their unique cues of comfort, effort, and fatigue. If something doesn't feel right, don't do it.
Your Critical Safety Checklist
Think of this as your “pause and check-in” moment. When in doubt, always trust your gut and consult a qualified professional.
STOP an activity immediately if:
- -Your baby cries in a way that indicates pain (a sharp, sudden cry versus a grunt of effort).
- -They show signs of physical discomfort, like wincing or guarding a part of their body.
- -They become excessively agitated or distressed.
- -You, the parent, feel unstable, unsure, or unsafe in your ability to support your baby.
CONSULT a qualified healthcare professional (pediatrician, physical therapist) BEFORE starting if your baby:
- -Was born prematurely.
- -Has been diagnosed with any medical condition (e.g., hypotonia, hypertonia, torticollis, hip dysplasia).
- -Is recovering from an injury or illness.
- -Has any other health or developmental concerns you're unsure about.
Not Medical Advice
We're parents like you, sharing what has worked for us and what we've learned along the way. Our content is not, and is not intended to be, a substitute for professional medical, pediatric, or therapeutic advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It is not designed to diagnose, treat, or address any specific medical conditions or developmental delays.
Always seek the advice of your physician or another qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition or the physical activities suitable for your specific child.
If your baby has any health conditions, developmental delays, or special needs, consult a qualified healthcare professional before attempting any of the activities or exercises in our program. While some activities can often be adapted to suit individual circumstances, this should always be done with the guidance of a medical expert who understands your baby's unique situation.
All feedback from the community, updates, or shared experiences should be treated the same way: use them as inspiration, but understand that you are 100% responsible for how you implement them.
Your Responsibility as a Parent or Caregiver
You and you alone are responsible for your child's safety and well-being.
If something doesn't feel right, don't do it. If an exercise or activity seems even remotely dangerous to you, avoid it. Your baby's safety comes first, above all else.
Take every precaution necessary to create a safe environment for your child during any activity or exercise. Supervise them at all times, use common sense, and adapt any recommendations to fit your baby's individual needs and abilities.
Every baby is unique, and it's your responsibility as a parent or caregiver to ensure that what you're doing is appropriate, safe, and enjoyable for your child. Never leave a child unattended during any activity.
Ultimately, trust your instincts. You know your baby best, and your judgment matters more than anything in this process. If something doesn't feel right, don't do it.
